A Goldsboro area man was carrying methamphetamine, guns and marijuana when police stopped him for allegedly either showing or pointing a gun in the direction of a passing motorist, authorities say.

A witness called emergency dispatch at 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday and said that Jose Javier Martinez, 29, had pointed a gun at him.

The witness said he had noticed Martinez driving erratically and pulled alongside him, causing Martinez to show the weapon, authorities said.

Deputy Chris Jackson stopped Martinez in Adams Food Mart No. 2, near the intersection of U.S. 13 South and Durham Lake Road, authorities said.

Police found two guns, 5.5 grams of methamphetamine and 1.5 grams of marijuana, according to his arrest report.

Martinez was charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, carrying a concealed weapon, reckless driving and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, authoritiesn said.

He was jailed under $70,000 bond, authorities said.
