Cause of motorcycle wreck still unknown

The Highway Patrol isn't sure what caused motorcyclist Dennis Alan Brock, 48, to cross the center line on West Main Street extension in Mount Olive on Saturday.
N.C. Crime Control and Public Safety Telecommuni-cator J.T. Smith said the accident occurred just two-tenths of a mile from Country Club Road.
Trooper J.L. Graham's report shows that alcohol was not a factor in the crash, which appeared to involve only one vehicle, the telecommunicator said.
According to Graham's accident narrative, Brock's motorcycle was headed west on State Road when it crossed the center line, ran off the roadway to the left, struck a ditch and overturned several times, Smith said.
Other reports said Brock's motorcycle may have skidded and fallen in the roadway in a curve.
Brock died before reaching Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville by medical helicopter, according to authorities.
Brock was the commander of the Goldsboro Rifles, the local chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Brock was also a long-time member of the Goldsboro Harley Owners Group, and a past director.
He volunteered with others at the recent "Shop with an Officer" campaign at Wal-Mart on Spence Avenue just before Christmas.
Brock had a patch with "Bubba," on his biker's jacket, which he would tell others was not a nickname, but a memory of a friend who had once called him that.
He had the patch put on in memory of that time and that particular friend.
Brock had been helping sponsor Goldsboro's "Shop with an Officer" for the past seven or eight years.
"It's a good thing. It's a great thing, to help these kids," Brock said.
