Hark, what's that you hear? Not another Christmas song

Imagine you are sitting in a world where you hear the same Christmas song over and over again -- and you can't escape.
For some in Wayne County, that is their world.
Every clothing store, grocery store, home improvement store and restaurant has been playing what seems like an endless loop of merry songs for months now.
Some stores and restaurants even started their concert of festive songs before Halloween, but most began playing them in November.
Still, if Christmas songs are all you hear all day, every day for months, wouldn't you get tired of them?
There are some songs that are just annoying to begin with.
And then there are songs that make you feel warm and fuzzy until you hear them so many times you consider evasive action.
That's how Sheri Barney feels.
She is an associate of T.J. Maxx and has heard Christmas music play in the store for months.
And the most annoying song, she said, is "Santa Claus is Coming to Town."
"I hear that every day," she said. "For all I care, he can go to some other town."
For the most part, however, if people don't work at a place that plays Christmas music around the clock, they say they don't mind it too much.
But they do have their favorites on the most annoying song list.
And for many, the top songs on that list are the same.
Jai Alston said he doesn't like "Jingle Bells."
"I say 'Jingle Bells,' too," Hosbae Giron said.
Seventeen-year-old Brian Foster said he didn't much like the bells song either.
But his friend, 16-year-old Jay Green, said he would much rather listen to "Jingle Bells" than "This Christmas."
"Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" was another one on the top of the most annoying Christmas song list.
Jo Ann Taylor said she can't stand the song.
"It's terrible -- Grandma getting run over," the 67-year-old said.
Austin Gray said he didn't much like the song either.
And James and Shana Hawkins said they would rather listen to any other song than that.
Eight-year-old Jaylin Hamilton was the only one who didn't like singing about the reindeer with the red nose.
"I don't like Rudolph," he said.
After Thursday, the world of endless and repeating Christmas songs will come to an end, and Miss Barney and others will find some relief -- until next November.
