Mall shoplifters caught Thursday

Two people who were on a shoplifting spree in Goldsboro were apprehended Thursday afternoon, after fleeing and eluding arrest.
Charles Anthony Cole, 48 of Four Oaks, and Alicia LaDonna Phelps, 34 of Selma, were arrested at the Chevron gas station at 501 N. Berkeley Blvd. at about 3 p.m. after fleeing police in a burgundy Chevrolet Lumina.
Ms. Phelps stole $218.90 worth of clothing from JCPenney at Berkeley Mall and stole other goods from Target on Sunburst Drive, police records show.
Cole was charged with driving while license revoked, fictitious tags, fleeing and eluding arrest and aiding and abetting larceny, and went to the Wayne County Jail under a $23,500 bond.
Ms. Phelps was charged with two counts of larceny and two counts of possession of stolen goods, and is in the jail under a $16,000 bond.
