Goldsboro's new human resources director is no stranger to city government.
Faye Reeves has worked as a city employee twice -- once in the 1990s and since 2000 in her current term as Golds-boro's operations manager and purchasing agent.
Ms. Reeves said she is excited about moving into her new role.
"I am looking forward to new challenges and to take on a new leadership role," she said. "I like to work with people. I love customer service. And I don't only want to make our service better for our employees but also for our citizens."
Come Wednesday, she will no longer be sitting on the second floor of the City Hall Annex. She will take her new position at her new desk in historic City Hall.
She said she doesn't want to go into the department and turn everything upside down.
She just wants to "streamline some of the functions to make everything work smoothly as a whole."
"I am just getting into and still learning what everyone in the city does," she said. "Once I get in the new position, I want to help alleviate some of the stress and work put on the Human Resources staff, level out burdens and responsibilities, and see how we can make things better."
Ms. Reeves has also served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves as a personnel specialist and career assistance adviser since January 2001. Prior to that, she supervised a staff of three people responsible for the operations of a Personal Affairs Office, serving 3,400 civilian and military personnel from July 1984 through September 1991.
She earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Mount Olive College in 1994.
