City Council meets Monday night

The Goldsboro City Council has a packed work session schedule Monday night, but has a slim regular session agenda.
Council members will discuss the alcoholic beverage policy at the Paramount Theatre during the work session. During the Nov. 3 session, the council agreed to allow beer and wine to be served during the city's Performance Series on a trial basis.
Members will also discuss changes to an animal control ordinance that would allow those living in the newly-annexed area off of Buck Swamp and Salem Church roads who have horses and other livestock to keep them.
City Engineer Marty Anderson will make a presentation on a vacuum sewer as opposed to a conventional sewer. Council members discussed the preliminary design for sewer system improvements for the newly annexed areas around Buck Swamp and Salem Church roads at an October meeting, but they wanted to see the advantages and disadvantages of each system. The city will fund the project this year using Sanitary Sewer Bonds or installment financing, but until then, a loan from the utility fund will finance the project.
In other business, the council will discuss Downtown Master Plan update during its work session and will discuss Christmas events, the Tree City USA re-certification application and making an administrative position in inspections permanent to ensure better efficiency with the minimum housing code during its regular session.
The council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in historic council chambers at City Hall.
