Aycock birthplace to hold fall festival on Saturday

FREMONT -- The Charles B. Aycock State Historic Site will hold its "Fall on the Farm," program on Saturday from noon until 4 p.m.
Visitors will be able to get a look at how farm families in eastern North Carolina handled harvest, from corn shelling and grinding to candle-making and spinning wool.
The program is free and open to the public.
Although the main house at the birthplace remains under repairs following a fire earlier in the year, but the schoolhouse and other buildings are open.
Anyone who wishes to help with the restoration may do so by mailing contributions to the Gov. Charles B. Aycock Birthplace Recovery and Restoration Fund at P.O. Box 207, Fremont, N.C. 27830.
The birthplace is located on Gov. Aycock Road, off U.S. 117 between Fremont and Pikeville.
