Woman buys car on closed account
Goldsboro police accuse a Kinston woman of paying the entire purchase price for a Toyota Camry with a check on a closed account, Investigator Nelson Viera said. Terri Harrison Robbins, 48, N.C. 58 North, allegedly gave Toyota of Goldsboro a check for $24,072 to pay for the vehicle. After the check was returned to the dealership by the bank, Ms. Robbins was eventually arrested in Wilson County on unrelated larceny charges, the investigator said. Ms. Robbins was brought to Goldsboro, charged with felonious obtaining property by false pretense, and returned to Wilson County Jail, police said.
Breaking and entering arrest
A breaking and entering call at an apartment on Piedmont Airline Road led to the arrest of a South Madison Avenue man on Thursday morning, police said. Officers found Jermel Mercel Wallace, 16, walking on Piedmont Airline and detained him because he matched the description of the suspect. Meanwhile, a Sheriff's Office deputy with a canine officer responded to the allegedly victimized home, then followed a scent trail directly to the spot where Wallace had been detained, according to a release. Wallace is charged with first-degree burglary and was jailed under $4,999 bond, according to a release.
Major copper theft
Livius Carr of South Spence Avenue reported Wednesday that a home belonging to Robbie Godbey in the 1000 block of Ivey Street was burglarized and $5,000 in copper tubing and other precious metals had been stolen, according to a Goldsboro police report.
