Tree limb cleanup

Goldsboro City Manager Joe Huffman said Monday that city crews are working as hard as they can to remove the debris left by Tropical Storm Hanna after she blew through Wayne County early Saturday morning.

Focused mostly on cleaning up downed trees, limbs and branches in the city's parks and from residential street corners where they've been piled, Huffman said the process could take some time.

"It will probably take a few weeks," he said. "We have already begun one round. But then we have people call and say we forgot to pick theirs up because they put theirs out after we came by. We have to go around once first, then the crews will go back around until all of the branches are picked up."

But, he added, if another storm comes through, those efforts are likely to be delayed.

"I expect that, just when we get this cleaned up, we will have more coming," he said.
