Robbed in the street
Goldsboro police are investigating an armed robbery Saturday on Meyers Avenue.
The victim, Lucius Mechell Smith, of an unknown address, told police he was in the roadway in the 300 block of Meyers Avenue when three men, one of whom he knows, robbed him at gunpoint. Smith said they got away with $1,900 worth of jewelry and clothing and took $600 in cash.
The three were seen going north into Courtyard Apartments, where Smith said one of the three men lives. The suspect Smith knows was described as being 19 years old. The other two were described as in their mid-teens, both wearing blue jean shorts. One was wearing a white T-shirt. The other had on no shirt, Smith said.
Assaulted with hammer
Larry Miller of Randolph Street told Goldsboro police an acquaintance hit him in the head with a hammer while he was arguing with his wife at a residence on Isler Street early Sunday morning.
Miller said he and his wife had a disagreement and took it outside the house, and the acquaintance followed them trying to intervene.
Miller said the man somehow got hold of the hammer and struck him in the back of the head.
The report said Miller was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Juveniles nabbed
A concerned citizen called Goldsboro police around 10 p.m. Sunday saying they saw two juveniles enter a car parked in the parking lot at Walgreens, 2606 E. Ash St.
The caller said one of the juveniles entered the car while the other one appeared to be acting as a look-out. The concerned citizen provided a description of the juveniles who had left the area walking.
The responding officers located juveniles matching the description in the [parking lot of Pizza Hut. The report said loose change reported stolen from the vehicle's owner, Romulus Stahl, was recovered.
The juveniles were transported to the police department where they were charged with one count each of felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle and misdemeanor larceny. The youths were then released to their parents.
Heist foiled
Goldsboro police are investigating a larceny and first degree trespass Sunday afternoon at Performance East, 1306 W. Grantham St.
A caller who passed the business said the fence was cut and men were loading an all terrain vehicle into a white van.
Upon arrival, officers found a white Dodge van owned by Kinston Nissan Suzuki parked against the fence with a red ATV, a Polaris Trailblazer 330 valued at $3,000, in the rear of the van.
A witness said he saw the suspects run south toward the woods behind Deacon Jones Nissan.
Damage to the fence was $200. The van's ignition had been punched out, and the vehicle was still running.
Break-ins
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigating these break-ins:
*There was a break-in at a house on N.C. 581 South, where items were reported stolen from the owner, Christina Angela Watkins of Erin's Place, and Progress Energy, 1558 Old Smithfield Road. The items taken included a meter box, a fuse box, copper line, an air-conditioning unit, a lawnmower, a trampoline and a bedroom suit, all valued at $10,850. The house had been last secured in mid-June.
*A break-in at General Industries, 3048 Thoroughfare Road was reported Saturday morning. Items reported taken from one of the vehicles included welding leeds, an oil cooler, radiator, CB radio and AM/FM radio, all valued at $2,825. Damage to the hood and radiator hoses came to $700.
*Sheriff's investigators responded to a rental house on Park Road where the larceny of $2,400 worth of copper wire was reported from the air-conditioner. The owner, Danny Hood Realty of 604 North Berkeley Boulevard, reported the break-in Friday
*Another $2,000 worth of copper wire was reported stolen from rental property on Willis Drive, Seven Springs by the owner, PQP Inc., of Goldsboro. This report also came in on Friday morning.
