A man charged with ethnic intimidation for burning a cross in a neighbor's yard earlier this month was arrested Tuesday and charged after allegedly continuing to intimidate the interracial couple.

Dixon Steward, 38, of Dudley, was charged Tuesday with violation of a court order and driving while license revoked.

Steward had been free under $500 bond. He is now in the Wayne County Jail under $10,000 bond.

Steward was charged on July 19 with burning a wooden cross in the yard of a white man and black woman who lived in his Timothy Street neighborhood.

Gerald Buchanan and Tangie West discovered the burning cross outside their bedroom window early on that Saturday morning.

Steward was ordered by law enforcement authorities to stay away from the family, but Capt. Tom Effler of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said the couple reported he had been intimidating the family again in violation of the order.

Effler said Steward reportedly said something to a member of the family in an intimidating manner.

Steward's next court appearance is Aug. 19.
