Man skips town after sentencing

A Goldsboro area man with a long criminal history skipped town after being given a week to get his affairs in order, court records show.
Jamie Carroll, who also has used the name "Jaime," originally faced charges that he fought Goldsboro police and tried to stuff a gram of cocaine in his mouth, record show.
He also bit an officer on the hand and/or finger, according to records.
Carroll was originally charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance, two counts of resisting police, assault on a police officer and destroying evidence.
In a plea deal, Carroll's charge of possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine was downgraded to felony possession.
Carroll and attorney Geoff Hulse agreed to admit to habitual felon status, and Caroll was sentenced to a maximum seven years in prison and $585 in court costs.
On June 30, Judge Benjamin Alford ordered Carroll to report to the Sheriff's Office on July 7.
Goldsboro police secured a warrant for Carroll's arrest the day after he was to report to jail and failed to appear.
Carroll's past charges include:
*Fleeing arrest in 2001,
*Carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of stolen goods in 2002,
*Possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine in 2004, along with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon,
*Driving with his license revoked in 2006.
The charges also show a history of multiple counts of resisting police.
