Looking for something to do Saturday night that doesn't cost a dime?

The Goldsboro Parks and Recreation Department is hosting it's free summer concert series, starting Saturday at Herman Park from 6:30 until 9 p.m. with an "Inspirational Day" concert featuring gospel and jazz saxophonist Mel Holder of Jamaica, N.Y.; Good Morning Mercy of Rocky Mount; Tony Edmondson; the Matt Bartlett Band; the Voices of Praise of Victory Faith Center; Richard Phillips; and a mime by Colette Sherard and son Mikal. Vendors will be on hand with ice cream, funnel cakes, hot dogs, Italian ice and more.

The next concert will be a rhythm-and-blues and jazz event Aug. 16 at H.V. Brown Park, featuring the Tanya Ross Project of High Point. The final concert will be a "Back to School Blast" Sept. 13. The department is looking for high-school-aged bands to perform. Interested bands should contact Tammy Greene at 739-7491.

Attendees should bring chairs or blankets.
