The Wayne County Museum's new prehistoric fossil exhibit will open July 10 and run through Aug. 29.
Museum Manager Johnna Nelson said Thursday that more artifacts than expected have been coming in, and she will not have the exhibit ready to open on July 3 as she had originally planned. She said she plans to devote the entire first week in July to getting the exhibit ready to open on July 10.
Among the artifacts are a petrified dinosaur dropping authenticated by a paleontologist in Raleigh, a dinosaur hip bone, coral and ocean floor noodles found in a creek bed near Benson.
