Vietnam veteran Royce Brock of Beautancus holds Ricky Lupper during a Memorial Day ceremony held Sunday at Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. The ceremony was sponsored by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9959. Wayne County paused over the weekend and today to remember the nation’s veterans, especially those who gave their lives in defense of their country. Vietnam took a heavy toll on Wayne County and especially Mount Olive. More than a half dozen men from the town were killed in the war.
