Bus drivers take honors

Two Wayne County Public Schools' bus drivers recently were top finishers in the N.C. School Bus ROADeo competition in Raleigh.
Arthur Herring, a driver for the cental attendance schools, placed seventh, and James Shepard, a driver at Tommy's Road Elementary, placed 11th.
Herring and Shephard originally earned the top two spots in the county version of the event in March.
They went on to place in the top 10 at the regional event in Clinton in April, and were invited to compete at the state level.
The annual event was sponsored by the N.C. DMV School Bus and Traffic Safety Section, N.C. Department of Public Instruction Transportation Services, Wake County Public School System and the North Carolina Pupil Transportation Association.
