The 25th annual Walk for Hunger will be Sunday afternoon at Herman Park.

The fundraising event is sponsored by United Church Ministries, which provides short-term assistance as well as offering ministry of support and guidance.

"The UCM is funded through contributions from churches, civic organizations, individuals, and our annual Walk for Hunger," said Terry Johnson, walk chairman. In an average year 2,300 clients will be seen for various emergency needs, he said.

Registration begins at 1 p.m., with the walk starting at 1:30 p.m. at the gazebo. In the event of rain, the walk will be postponed until April 13. Two rest sites will be included along the route for those needing a break.

Participants also receive a T-shirt or coffee mug upon completion of the walk.

To sign up, call the UCM office at 734-0480 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and leave a message.
