MOUNT OLIVE -- The North Carolina Pork Council has pledged $100,000 to Mount Olive College over a five-year period. The money will be used to establish an endowed scholarship at the college in memory of Lois G. Britt.
The fund will provide scholarship opportunities for students from North Carolina pursuing majors in agriscience, AgriIndustry or agribusiness.
Ms. Britt's own career in agribusiness included serving the pork industry as vice president of Murphy Family Farms and special assistant to the president of Murphy-Brown, LLC. She was the recipient of many honors and awards, including the N.C. Pork Council Hall of Fame Award.
