'Booze it' nets crack, counterfeit money
Police stopped a 23-year-old Dudley man with 1.5 ounces of crack cocaine and a counterfeit $20 during a "Booze It & Lose It" U.S. 117 South traffic checkpoint late Friday, Goldsboro police said. Police charged Billy Ray Hardy Jr. of Hack Drive with driving while impaired, possession with intent to sell or deliver crack cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for a controlled drug, and possession of a counterfeit instrument, police said.
St. Paddy's checkpoint
A traffic checkpoint Monday set up by Pikeville and Goldsboro police and the Highway Patrol cited more than 100 people, with four drug violations and 11 people charged with driving while licenses revoked. The checkpoint on U.S. 117 South also resulted in an arrest for driving while impaired.
Domestic assault
Police charged Guillermo Gonzalez, 36, of Arrington Bridge Road, Dudley with kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill after he took his wife against her will while armed with a pistol, police said. Guillermo was being held without bond for a trial Monday, according to a report.
Mustang stolen, wrecked, returned
Jeffery Moore of Rosewood Road told Wayne County Sheriff's officials that someone stole his 2006 gray Ford Mustang, then returned it early on Sunday with an estimated $40,000 in damages, apparently from a wreck, according to a report.
Arson investigation
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office reported probable arson Friday evening at a Harrison Drive vacant single-wide mobile home owned by Jimmy Vail of Vail Road, according to a report.
Knife attack
Antonio Hodges of Kennon Court told Goldsboro police he received minor injuries after being stabbed by a white male stranger who asked him for a light outside his Virginia Street home. Hodges told police the suspect was in his 30s, but no other information about the suspect was listed on the police report.
Break-in
Wade Durham Jr. of Thunder Swamp Road, Mount Olive told Wayne County Sheriff's deputies that someone made an entrance hole in the sheetrock at Durham's Lake Bait Shop on Durham Lake Road on Friday. $10 worth of assorted snacks and drinks were stolen, Durham reported.
Break-in arrest
A Wayne County Sheriff's Office detective reported an Emmaus Church Road teen is responsible for a break-in at the Pleasant Acres mobile home park in Dudley, according to a release. Janamar Deon Lee Lanier, 16, was charged with felony-level breaking and entering and larceny and jailed under $1,500 unsecured bond, the release states.
Drug arrest
The Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad produced charges against a Braswell Road 18-year-old who had a gram of cocaine, according to an arrest report. Lewis Cody Honeycutt was charged with possession of of cocaine, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and possession of marijuana and was jailed under $12,000 bond, according to his arrest report.
