Goldsboro City Council members will be asked Monday to order the condemnation and demolition of two dilapidated dwellings cited by the city Inspections Department.

Chief Building Inspector Ed Cianfarra is expected to tell the council that the properties, located at 400 John St. and 439 Elm St., are deteriorating and are no longer safe.

Other items on the meeting agenda include two conditional land use requests and a zoning request.

The zoning issue involves Araneum LLC, a group attempting to have property on the east and west sides of William Street, between Royall Avenue and Tarboro Street, rezoned from general industry to residential.

As for the conditional land use requests, one will deal with property owned by Henry Battle, located on the east side of James Street, between Spruce and Pine streets. The other, owned by Bobby Reavis, involves property located on the northwest corner of Ash and Daisy streets.

The meeting, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., will be one of the last to be held in the second-floor conference room inside the new City Hall. Starting in April, meetings will move back to the original, newly renovated building next door.
