The Bouncing Bulldogs, an international rope skipping demonstration team out of Chapel Hill, will perform Friday at 7 p.m. at the National Guard Armory on U.S. 117 bypass. The group will sponsor a rope skipping camp Saturday at the armory, from 9 a.m. until noon. Cost of the show on Friday is $5. Cost of the camp is $15.

To register for camp on-site, call 288-3734.

The Bouncing Bulldogs is comprised of 100 boys and girls from the Triangle area, ranging in age from 5 to 23. Team members can perform hundreds of synchronized tricks, maneuvers, and dances using a combination of single and double dutch ropes. Their innovative rope skipping style includes fancy footwork, flips, and other acrobatic tricks.

Each year, the team performs worldwide in front of thousands of spectators, including sports fans, health and fitness professionals, students, educators and the general public.

The team currently has 149 national championship titles in single and double dutch events and 18 world champions. In June 2007 at the National Jump Rope Championship, held in Orlando, Florida, the Bouncing Bulldogs took home 103 medals, gold, silver and bronze, as well as the Grand National Champion Team Title.

The goal of the Bouncing Bulldogs program is to promote rope skipping for fun and fitness, and to help children grow physically, emotionally and socially.
