Wayne blood donors sought

The nation's blood supply is again dwindling and Wayne County area residents are beinga asked to donate.
The Carolinas Blood Services Region, of which Wayne County is a part, lost 625 units of blood from Raleigh collections alone, according to Tammy Forrester, Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross blood services director.
Especially low are types O, B and A, which have a little more than a day's supply.
"We do need all donors to come out if at all possible and donate to help bring our levels back up," she said. "We are still promoting our ACC Challenge to entice our donors to come out and give and also as a way to say thank you so much for giving the gift of life."
Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good general health. For information, call the Red Cross at 735-7201. The following are scheduled bloodmobile stops:
Feb. 7: Sentry Insurance from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Feb. 9: New Hope United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Feb. 12: Red Cross chapter house, 600 N. George St., from 1:30 to 6 p.m. by appointment only by calling 735-7201.
Feb. 14: Mount Olive Presbyterian Church from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Cherry Hospital from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Feb. 15: Lowe's from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Bussmann from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Feb. 21: Rosewood High School from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Feb. 22: Wayne Memorial Hospital from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Feb. 27: Mount Olive Pickle Co. from 1:30 to 6 p.m.
Feb. 28: Red Cross office at 600 N. George St., from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., by appointment only. Call 735-7201.
