Foster parents being sought in eastern N.C.

Boys and Girls Homes of NC, a non-profit organization, works to promote awareness of the devastating effects of child abuse and neglect in southeastern North Carolina.
The organization is dedicated to locating need foster and adoptive parents that are dedicated to assuring that the children involved get the love, support, and commitment they need.
Requirements to become a foster or adoptive parent with Boys & Girls Homes of NC, Inc. are
*Attendees must be over the age of 21
*Pass a criminal history check and federal background check
*Complete training of 36 hours with Boys & Girls Homes of NC, Inc.;
*Complete physicals and TB tests;
*Complete a fire inspection of their home.
They must also have adequate living space, demonstrate adequate income to meet the needs of their own family, have their own transportation, and the ability to work as a team.
In addition, they must have a high school diploma or GED, or if a couple, one person with a diploma or GED.
Most importantly though, beyond basic requirements, they need to have determination, patience, humor, and love for children, regardless of their background.
Boys & Girls Homes of NC started holding training sessions at Tanglewood Church at 2103 Rouse Road in Kinston last week.
The same training will be afforded at First Baptist Church at1200 Cameron Road in Hope Mills, starting Feb. 7.
