Bartlett honored by state soybean farmers

Kenneth Bartlett of LaGrange, a soybean producer from Wayne County, has been awarded the meritorious service award by the North Carolina Soybean Producers Association.
The award is the association's most prestigious recognition for outstanding commitment and contributions to the Association and to North Carolina soybean farmers.
Bartlett was presented the award during the Association's forty-first annual meeting in Raleigh on Jan. 17.
In presenting the award, association president Jacob Parker noted that Bartlett has been active on the board of the World Initiative for Soy in Human Health, which promotes soy protein as a healthy, cost-effective alternative in the diets of people in developing countries.
Bartlett serves on the executive committee of the North Carolina Soybean Producers Association. He and his wife, Peggy, and farm in the LaGrange area.
The North Carolina Soybean Producers Association is a Raleigh-based soybean trade organization involved in research, education and promotion activities and programs. The association is the qualified state board responsible for administering the national soybean checkoff program in North Carolina.
Bartlett also was recently appointed as a director on the United Soybean Board, the governing board for the soybean checkoff program. He is part of the group's marketing committee.
The board is made up of 68 farmer-directors who oversee the investments of the soybean checkoff on behalf of all U.S. soybean farmers. Checkoff funds are invested in the areas of animal utilization, human utilization, industrial utilization, industry relations, market access and supply.
