A Pikeville man faces a felony-level charge for taking indecent liberties with a child, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said.
Allan Lawrence Pratt, Nahunta Pines Drive, Pikeville, was jailed in lieu of $75,000 bond on Thursday, Capt. Tom Effler said.
Detective Lt. Shawn Harris led the investigation into the incident, which reportedly occurred sometime in December, authorities have said.
The child is a 6-year-old family member, according to Effler's news release.
The Department of Social Services and Detective Richard Winders and David Rose assisted in investigation, according to the release.
State law says that a person is guilty of indecent liberties with a child if they are at least 16 years old and five years or more older than the victim; or willfully attempts to get a child under age 16 to take part in immoral, improper or indecent acts for the purpose of sexual arousal or gratifying sexual desire.
