A Legion Lake Drive man faces prosecution for reportedly trying to burn down a neighbor's home with a "Molotov cocktail," authorities said.

Clarence Cleveland Bos-well, 57, was jailed in lieu of $40,000 bond on New Year's Eve after allegedly throwing one of the crude incendiary devices at the home of Brenda Champion of Gold Park Drive, Dudley, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said.

Boswell stands accused of lighting a fuse on a bottle containing gasoline and throwing it at Ms. Champion's home, Capt. Carl Lancaster said.

"We think he was trying to hit a window," Lancaster said, but Boswell might have thrown the homemade bomb short or had it bounce off the home, the captain said.

The bomb hit the side of the home causing some "minor" damages, Capt. Tom Effler said.

The damages might involve replacing some siding at Ms. Champion's home, Effler said.

Ms. Champion was inside the home when the small bomb detonated, but her children were outside and warned Ms. Champion to exit the home, the captain said.

The Sheriff's Office did not release a possible motive for Boswell's alleged indendiary device assault.

The incident reportedly occurred on Dec. 29 and Boswell was arrested Dec. 31, Wayne County Sheriff's Office officials said.

Boswell faces one count of first-degree arson, according to his arrest sheet.
