Third robbery suspect arrested

A Fountain resident has been arrested in connection with a summer robbery at a local fast food restaurant.

Jarvaris Quante Whitted, 17, of Best Drive, was arrested on charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the June 16 robbery at the Berkeley Boulevard Burger King.

Whitted is the third man arrested for the crime.

Police said that the other two suspects, Perez McDuffie and Tyrone Riley, are currently awaiting trail in the Wayne County Jail.

Riley was arrested in December and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon for his alleged involvement in not only the June but also Dec. 1 and 10 robberies. He was also charged with second-degree kidnapping and assault on a female, police officials said.

McDuffie was arrested and charged July 28 with the robbery.

Whitted was given a $5,000 unsecured bond and released to the custody of his mother.

Charges filed

Police say a North James Street man was caught trying to steal laptops and a camcorder inside the Wayne County Public Schools administration building on East Royall Avenue. A school employee reported she found William Vaughn Lee, 36, inside her office carrying a laptop bag and another bag on Sunday afternoon. Police said canine officer Canoe assisted in finding Lee behind a home in the 1500 block of Beech Street. The property was recovered, and Vaughn was charged with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods, police said. He was jailed in lieu of a $50,000 bond, police said.
