WCC law enforcement program now accepting applications

Wayne Community College is currently enrolling students for its 52nd Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy, which starts Jan. 7.
The rigorous accredited program stresses academic achievement, discipline and officer safety, with evening classes meeting during the week and at varying times on Saturdays. The class will graduate in early August.
To be eligible for the program, applicants must be at least 20 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid N.C. driver's license and no criminal record.
Applicants must be sponsored by a law enforcement agency; complete an application packet; have a complete medical examination; submit a criminal history report and copies of birth certificate and high school diploma or equivalent; take a reading comprehension placement test; and have a pre-enrollment conference with the academy's director.
Cost of the course is approximately $750, which includes books, uniforms and supplies.
