Stabbing reported
Charletta Atkinson of Hollowell Street told city police that a woman she knows stabbed her during a confrontation in the 900 block of Lincoln Drive on Wednesday morning, police said.
Cotton burns
A cotton module owned by William Howell of N.C. 111 North sustained $2,000 in damages Wednesday after juveniles playing with fire accidentally set it ablaze, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said. Two juveniles told authorities they found a cigarette lighter near the road and were lighting small pieces of cotton fire close to the cotton module. A strong wind blew some burning cotton into the module, causing it to be immediately engulfed in flames, authorities said.
WWI artifact stolen
William Pittman of East Taylor Road, Pikeville, reported stolen a World War I-era .35-caliber German Remington/Browning rifle worth an estimated $15,000 from his home on Wednesday, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said. In all, $21,000 worth of ammunition and weapons were reported stolen, authorities said.
Thefts reported
*Tamela Faison of Hugh Street reported her home broken into early Friday morning after someone smashed a window and $1,970 in cash in valuables stolen, city police said.
*Jill McQueen of East Beech Street reported a broken window and her home burglarized early Thursday morning, city police said. Around $800 in valuables were taken, police said.
*Fredi Castro of Central Heights Road reported his vehicle broken into at home and $2,475 in valuables stolen, police said.
*Gerado Polvon of Ponderosa Drive reported a burgundy Ford Galaxy four-door vehicle worth $3,000 stolen from a residence on Spring Bank Road on Thursday, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said.
*Jesus Cruz of Lucky Oak Drive reported a break-in at a Durham Lake Road, Dudley residence on Wednesday in which $920 in valuables were stolen, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said.
*Travis Crocker of N.C. 581 North, Kenly, reported stolen a zero-turn mower valued at $7,500 on Thursday from a commercial dealership in the 2500 block of N.C. 581, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said.
*Cecil Ray and Scarlet Larae Howard of Frankies Lane reported stolen a scooter, two bicycles, an Xbox game system, 12 DVD movies, a body massager, Ativan medication and Valium medication from an unlocked camper, all items valued at $579, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said.
*Jessie Miller Langley of Faro Road, Fremont, reported stolen a Remington 22 caliber rifle, a Remington 12 gauge shotgun, a Savage 410 shotgun bolt action, a Savage 12 gauge single shotgun, two televisions, a computer, a printer, a PlayStation II game system, controllers and five games, a VCR and DVD player, two guitars and a tuner with speakers from his residence, all items valued at $6,695, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said.
