Tri-County membership meets at MOC

MOUINTOLIVE -- Tri-County Electric Membership Corp. recently held its 67th Annual Meeting of members at Kornegay Hall on the Mount Olive College campus. Approximately 1,800 people were present with 950 members registering from Wayne, Duplin, Lenoir, Johnston, Jones, Sampson and Wilson counties.
The four incumbents re-elected to the Board of Directors were Dallace Grady of Kenansville for Duplin County district 1, William Farmer, Jr. of Mount Olive and Worth Overman, Jr. of Pikeville for Wayne County district 2, and Leland Heath, Jr. of Kinston for Lenoir County district 3.
General Manager J. Michael Davis told the gathering the corporation is membership driven and committed to providing reliable services at a reasonable cost.
The cooperative has also, since 1994, granted $715,210.53 to 711 teachers in Wayne, Duplin and Lenoir counties through the Bright Ideas Program. Since 2001, employees have helped 218 students with scholarships totaling $97,250. All funds for the employee-funded scholarship program are raised by the employees.
