The father of the owner of a Goldsboro restaurant accidentally struck and injured three pedestrians in the restaurant's parking lot Saturday night, police say.

J.D. McCall, 79, Vail Road, Pikeville, is charged with failure to see before backing and unsafe movement following the incident, city police said.

McCall was driving a vehicle owned by McCall's Bar-B-Que & Seafood of Miller's Chapel Road, police say, when he hit three parked vehicles and three pedestrians, according to an accident report.

Witnesses told police that McCall was backing up from a parking spot at McCall's when he bumped one car, then hit another.

The second vehicle was pushed out of the way, clearing a path for McCall's vehicle to hit Sheryl Jenkins, 37, of Spring Hill Road, Greenville, Tina Atkinson Scott, 31, Hedge Street, Kinston, and Benita Epps, 34, of Cedar Lane, Greenville.

After hitting the pedestrians and knocking them to the ground, McCall's vehicle stopped when it hit a third vehicle, owned by Charles Woodard of East Mulberry Street, according to the report.

A Wayne County Memorial Hospital spokeswoman said Ms. Scott and Ms. Epps were treated and released for their injuries.

The spokeswoman said Jenkins was transferred to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

Pitt County officials said they did not have anyone in their directory whose name matched the report.

Vehicles owned by the restaurant, Ronald Coleman Epps, of Green-ville, Ms. Scott and Woodard sustained a total of $3,600 in damages.
