Robbery arrest
A man who authorities say helped rob a handicapped victim at an N.C. 111 South home in Seven Springs has been arrested, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said. Samuel Devon Cannon, 30, Brock Street, faces charges of first-degree burglary, felony assault on a handicapped individual and robbery with a dangerous weapon and was jailed in lieu of $100,000 bond, authorities said. He also faces four counts of failure to pay child support, adding $1,300 to his bond amount, according to police records.
Copper theft
Police said a Workman Street man cut copper from power poles on Swan Street and elsewhere on Wednesday morning, police said. Darren Curtis Harding, 41, faces nine counts of misdemeanor larceny and nine counts damage to property and was jailed in lieu of a $900 bond, police said. Copper thefts were also reported on Dollard Town Road, Pickens Drive and Piney Grove Church Road on Wednesday, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said.
