Thompson promoted at WCC

William T. "Bill" Thompson Jr. has been promoted to associate vice president of institutional advancement at Wayne Community College.
Thompson has worked at the college since 1990, following 25 years of service in the United States Air Force as a personnel office. His previous title was director of planning and research.
He obtained a bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University and a master's degree from Webster University in St. Louis, Mo.
He has served as president of the N.C. Community College Planning and Research Organization and strategic planning consultant for national, state and local community non-profits. He is the recipient of the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year award, the Sunrise Kiwanis Club President's Appreciation award and WCC Administrator of the Year award.
In his new role, he will be responsible for institutional effectiveness, accreditation, data collection, initiatives to improve student success rates, professional development for staff and faculty, resource development, marketing and special projects.
