The state Center for Environmental Farming Systems at Cherry Hospital will hold its 2nd Annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the CEFS Small Farm west of Goldsboro.
More than 1,000 people interested in cutting edge farming technology are expected to attend the event, which will feature an open house, educational exhibits, food, music and a diverse farmer's market featuring local producers.
The center's mission is to develop and promote food and farming systems that benefit and protect the environment, strengthen local communities and create economic opportunities for eastern North Carolina and the rest of the state and region.
The center seeks to enhance the quality of life in the area through support of the Cooperative Extension Service and education about natural resources. It also works to create new opportunities for farmers and land owners, as well as consumers.
Sponsors are being sought for the event, with sponsorships starting at $100. Larger sponsors can have exhibit booths at the festival and earn recognition in the CEFS newsletter and on its Web site.
For information about the festival, people should call (919) 781-4339 or e-mail jrogers4339@bellsouth.net.
