MOUNT OLIVE -- The 20th annual Michael Martin Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held Aug. 23 at the Southern Wayne Country Club.
The scholarship-generating fundraiser for Mount Olive College is named after the MOC alumnus and highway patrolman killed in the line of duty.
Last year's event raised $29,006, bringing the total raised to date to $242,870, or 30 scholarships.
Tee times for the four-man super ball tournament, sponsored by Friendly Mart Food stores, will be 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Entry fee is $60 per player. The field will be limited to the first 200 players with paid entries, which are due by Aug. 16. There will also be a silent auction.
A barbecue meal will be held at lunch, with hot dogs and sausage dogs served throughout the day. Stevens Sausage will also be serving from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.
Tournament coordinator Neil Price said this year's goal is $30,000.
