Girl Scout council changes announced

The Girl Scouts announced last week the appointment of Rusine Mitchell-Sinclair as CEO of the new Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines organization.
Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines will merge with the Girl Scout Council of Coastal Carolina and Pines of Carolina Girl Scout Council, effective Oct. 1.
Ms. Mitchell-Sinclair will retires Aug. 1 as IBM senior state executive for North Carolina and vice president of strategy and implementation for IBM IT Global Delivery.
A Girl Scout as a child, volunteer, board member and officer, and mother of a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient in the Pines of Carolina Girl Scout Council, Ms. Mitchell-Sinclair said she has a passion for the Girl Scout mission of personal and leadership development.
In her job, she represented IBM across the state to elected officials, business leaders, and the community and has served boards of directors for non-profits and foundations ranging from Wake Educational Partnership to the N.C. Technology Association, WakeMed Foundation, the U.N.C. Parents' Council and the N.C. Special Transit Advisory Committee. She served as chairman of the 2006 Triangle American Heart Association Heart Walk, the IBM Employee Charitable Campaign and the Pines of Carolina Girl Scout Council's Family Campaign.
The Girl Scout Council of Coastal Carolina will join with Pines of Carolina Girl Scout Council to form Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines. The council will serve more than 32,000 girls and 10,000 adults across central and eastern North Carolina. The change is part of a national initiative to create councils that are better equipped to meet the needs of girls in today's fast-changing world.
