The magic of Harry Potter is hitting the big screen, book stores and the Wayne County Public Library this month.

The library will offer a "Magic for Muggles" workshop July 24 from 2-4 p.m. The workshop is free, but registration is required. To sign up, call 735-1824, ext. 5100, or stop by the reference desk at the Goldsboro branch of the Wayne County Public Library on Ash Street.

"Muggle" is a word used in the Harry Potter series referring to a human who does not have magical abilities. The library workshop will teach kids how to perform magic just like Harry Potter and his friends are doing at Hogwarts School of Magic.

The "Muggles" will learn to suspend the laws of gravity, pass solid through solid, learn to tell their parents' fortunes and teach their fathers about income tax through the adroit use of leprechaun gold. Muggles will take home a great bag of tricks to show their families and friends.

The workshop will be led by magician-storyteller-comedian Jim Alberti.
