City Council meets Monday

Goldsboro resident Parker Harris will likely learn the fate of his dream Monday, as City Council members are expected to take action on his request to open a teen club downtown.
The 19-year-old's conditional land use request is one of many items scheduled to be heard at the meeting.
Several zoning issues are also expected to be resolved during the session.
The first, involves property located on the south side of Eighth Street, between Wayne Memorial Drive and Humphrey Street. Parcel owner New Century Homes has requested a change from residential to general business.
The second, involves land owned by Pentecostal Christian Assembly. The property owners have requested a change in zoning from residential to office and institutional.
The council is also expected to take action on two requests for zoning changes from residential to office-residence.
The first, from Patrick Gallagher, involves property located on the south side of Ash Street, between Oleander and Audubon avenues.
The second, involves a parcel located on the southwest corner of Ash Street and Oleander Avenue.
Council members are also expected to determine whether or not changing the name of Jefferson Street to Jefferson Avenue is appropriate and if it should allow for the lease of hazard mitigation property to Donald Smith.
At the end of their meeting, as is their custom, council members will open the floor to members of the public -- anyone who wishes to raise questions, concerns or voice praise.
Residents who wish to speak are asked to limit their comments to three minutes and turn off or mute all cell phones and pagers upon entry into council chambers.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the second-floor conference room inside City Hall.
