'Stop the Funeral' march Saturday

Local churches and the NAACP will host a Stop the Funeral community walk Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m.
It will begin and end at the steps of the Wayne Courthouse. In between will be about a mile march.
At the end of the walk, there will be a unity prayer and the Rev. William Barber, pastor at Greenleaf Christian Church and president of the state chapter of the NAACP, Bishop Alton Smith, pastor at St. Mark's Church of Christ, and Sylvia Barnes, president of the Goldsboro/Wayne Branch of the NAACP, will be among those to speak.
The walk comes near the end of the 60 days of fasting and prayer for hope, healing and peace that began with the Stop the Funeral Unity Revival on May 10.
A culmination service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 14 at St. James AME Zion Church.
The Stop the Funeral movement was begun in response to the shooting deaths of 23-year-old Raheim Kornegay and his girlfriend, 28-year-old Sharon Sheppard, four days apart in late April.
