Suspect caught
Wayne County Sheriff's Office officers arrested a man who allegedly broke into a home off Antioch Road in Pikeville.
Approximately $10,000 worth of property was stolen from the home.
Julian Earl Langley Jr., 38, of Sir Richards Drive, Pikeville, was charged with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen property, said detective Sgt. Carl Lancaster. Most of the property has been recovered.
During the investigation, Lancaster noticed a woman trying to hide something in nearby shrubbery. Pamela Valadez was charged with possession of marijuana after detectives discovered a half-pound of marijuana. Inside Ms. Valadez's home, they allegedly found some of the property taken in a break-in Langley allegedly was involved in.
Langley was being held at the Wayne County Jail on a $10,000 bond. Ms. Valedez was being held on a $6,500 bond, officials said.
Armed robbery
James Hicks reported Tuesday that three men approached him and began hitting him with a gun in a parking lot in the 600 block of South Slocumb Street. They stole his black backpack with various items inside, valued at $20.
Thefts reported
*Barbara Ann Chapman reported someone broke into her home in the 700 block of Spence Avenue and stole a 20-inch flat screen TV. Damage and items were set at $800.
*Someone broke into a room at a construction site in the 2900 block of U.S. 70 West and stole six 1,000 feet rolls of copper wire, valued at $1,800. The property belonged to Shine Electric Co. of Richardson, Texas.
*Someone fraudulently used bank account information from Goldsboro Disciple Institute, 211 Hooks River Road, to pay their bills, totaling $1,107.63, online. A suspect was identified. However, no arrests were immediately made.
*Dean A. Thomas reported someone broke into his storage shed at his home in the 200 block of Meadow Road and stole his riding lawnmower, valued at $200.
