suspect sought
A Goldsboro man is looking for a man who allegedly sexually assaulting a woman at about 3:30 a.m. Friday. The suspect was identified as Melvin Joseph Plummer, 31. His last known address was South Taylor Street. He is being sought on one count of first-degree rape. Plummer has the word "Ameerah" tattooed on the left side of his neck and the word "Scorpion" tattooed on his left arm, according to Goldsboro police.

Goldsboro police are searching for three armed men who barged into a man's home and ransacked it in the 900 block of Peru St. at about 9:55 p.m. Wednesay. Lyndel Oliver told police that someone knocked on the door. When he answered, three armed men rushed inside and demanded money. When he told them he did not have any money, the men ransacked his home. Oliver tried to escape during the robbery, but was beaten and knocked unconscious by one of the suspects. When he came to, the robbers had gone. Nothing was missing from the home, the victim said.
House fire
About 30 firefighters from the Patetown, Saulston, Belfast and Antioch volunteer fire departments responded to a fire at 103 Kayla Court Wednesday. No one was injured in the fire that broke out at about 12:30 p.m. Craig Taylor was present when the fire started but got out safely. Firefighters put out the fire in the mobile home in about 10 minutes, but remained on the scene for about two hours for salvage and overhaul, Patetown Fire Chief John Gardner said. Damage to the home was estimated at $15,000. Carla Taylor owned the home. The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
Marijuana found
Members of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office Drug Enforcement Division and Air Wing division confiscated 120 marijuana plants that were growing in clandestine plots in the vicinity of Tommy's Road and Hare Road. At maturity, the plants would have had an estimated value of $120,000, investigators said. The office's helicopter was a vital tool in locating the plants that were partially camouflaged, officers added.
Scooter stolen
Richard G. Walsh reported he left his blue scooter, valued at $1,500, unsecured with the key in the ignition and went inside his apartment in the 200 block of South Center Street. When he returned the scooter was gone.
