WCC business students honored at state conference

Members of the Wayne Community College student business association earned more than a dozen honors at the recent state leadership conference.
The Gamma Chi chapter of Phi Beta Lambda competed against 27 other college and university chapters from across North Carolina.
The chapter placed third in Largest Local Chapter Membership and was awarded a Terry Lowrance Leadership Award for the second consecutive year. The Lowrance award recognizes outstanding local chapters that have actively participated in state and national conferences, projects, programs, and publicity and membership activities throughout the year: It was named for an advisor who served the state organization for 24 years.
Results of individual competitions included Josh Berens, first place in networking concepts; Chris Thomas, third place in computer concepts; Leanna Greene, third place in word processing; and Dustin Gurley, fifth place in telecommunications.
Miss Greene, along with Dana Hine, Genesis Juckett and Christina Fanto received certificates for participation in the State Leadership Development Program.
Team awards went to Berens and Hine, first place in E-Business for the Goldsboro Gaming
Expo Website www.g2expo.com; Gurley and Fanto, first place in Digital Video Production for their work on a four-minute video highlighting the work of the March of Dimes; Thomas, Berens and Greene, third place in Partnership with Business for the chapter's work on the Goldsboro Gaming Expo; and Fanto and Juckett, third place in Business Ethics.
The first and second place winners of individual and team events are eligible to compete at the National Leadership Conference in Chicago this summer.
