MOUNT OLIVE -- Mount Olive College will graduate approximately 350 students at its 53rd spring commencement on Saturday, May 12. Graduation exercises are scheduled for 2 p.m. in the George and Annie Dail Kornegay Arena.
The commencement speaker will be Lt. Governor Beverly Eaves Perdue. During Perdue's last six years in the Senate, she served as one of the State's chief budget writers--the first woman to hold this position. Lt. Gov. Perdue has also led North Carolina's fight for a quality public education for every child in North Carolina. A former public school teacher, she has been a leader in raising teacher pay toward the national average and measuring student performance.
The college's traditional worship service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Southern Bank Auditorium in Raper Hall. The Rev. Frank Harrison, professor emeritus at MOC, will speak.
