Two local school bus drivers placed in the district school bus "ROAD-e-o" competition held recently in Clinton and will advance to the state competition May 9-10 in Raleigh.
James Shepard, a bus driver for Tommy's Road Elementary School, earned second place at the district level, while Arthur Herring, a central attendance area driver, finished third.
Ricky Carter, the school system's assistant director of transportation, said the two men are an "example of the high standards that we hold our drivers to.
"We are proud of what these two drivers have accomplished and wish them the best of luck in the upcoming state school bus 'ROAD-e-o' competition."
