Armed robbery
The search continues for an armed robber who robbed a business on George Street Friday.
David Hood of Hood Equipment, 1211 S. George St., said a man held him at gunpoint at the business and took his wallet, which contained $400, a 38-caliber special handgun and a weedeater, from his counter, and then left the store. Hood received minor injuries during the encounter and was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment by a relative.
The suspect was described as a black male in his 40s. He is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 250 pounds. He possibly walks with a limp and a gray and white cane. He was last seen wearing a blue hat and blue jacket and dark-colored pants.
The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating the incident.
Anyone with information is asked to call Goldsboro-Wayne Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. All callers can remain anonymous and could receive a cash reward of up to $1,000 if their information leads to a felony arrest.
Break-in
*Jeanne Delores Easton reported someone broke into her home in the 100 block of Waynewoods Drive and stole a Sony PlayStation 3, video games and other items, all valued at $883.
Torch fire
*Wayne County sheriff's detectives are investigating a fire that broke out at a junk yard at Jackson Used Auto Parts, 1725 Old Smithfield Hwy. Someone was using a torch to cut metal when the fire broke out. The fire caused damage to several stored vehicle parts. A damage estimate was unavailable.
Break-in
*Douglas Arrington Anderson reported someone broke into his home in the 1000 block of North Beston Road, LaGrange and stole a laptop computer, stereo, digital camera, Sony PlayStation 2 and other items, all valued at $3,210.

Shooting
*Virgie Lee Roberts reported someone fraudulently cashed a counterfeit check on her account for $4,997. Ms. Roberts told police the bank contacted her and said a check had been cashed on her account in Charlotte. But the check number was that of a check she had already used. She said she does not know how anybody could have gotten her information.
*Thieves reportedly got away with $4,365 worth of items after kicking in the back door and ransacking a couple rooms at Gerald Ramey's Rockefeller Court home. Among the items stolen were a Sony PlayStation, DVD player, 20 DVDs, clothing and a jar of coins. Ramey said the break-in occurred some time between 8 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday. Damage was set at $125.
