Armed robbery
Goldsboro police are searching for a man who robbed a business on George Street at gunpoint on Friday and got away with $400 cash.
Police responded to Hood Equipment, 1211 S. George St., about 8:35 a.m. Friday after receiving a report about the robbery. David W. Hood told police that the man knocked on the door and asked to purchase an item. He told the man that the business was not open for business yet and the suspect left. Moments later after he opened the business, the suspect returned. He entered the business, placed a small caliber handgun to Hood's head and told him not to move. A struggle ensued and the victim fell to the floor and cut his left hand. The robber grabbed Hood's wallet, which contained about $400, his .38-caliber special handgun, a weedeater, which was laying on the counter at the store and ran from the business. Hood was taken to the Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment by a relative. The suspect was described as a black male in his 40s. He is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 250 pounds. He possibly walks with a limp and a gray and white cane. He was last seen wearing a blue hat and blue jacket and dark-colored pants.
