Body recovered
The body of Kevin Elvins, 21, of Dawson Creek Drive, Stantonsburg, was found at a home located at 1564 Lancaster Road at 11:30 p.m. April 3. Authorities said Elvins died after ingesting insecticide. No foul play was suspected.
Student charged in assault on teen
Wayne County sheriff's deputies detained a Spring Creek High School student accused of beating another male. The student was charged with assault. The victim sustained two chipped teeth, a broken nose and sinus cavities, which caused two hematomas to form behind his ears, according to the warrant. Surgery was required to repair the injuries, officials said.
Burglary
Kamilah Inez Cobb reported Tuesday someone broke in to her home in the 100 block of Tulane Street and stole a DVD/VCR combo player, $150 cash, a cell phone and other items, all valued at $635.
