The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigating the following reports:
*Thieves entered an unlocked 2003 Ford van owned by Hector Escalera Jr. while it was parked at his home on Westover Drive and took the sound system, a television monitor and two cordless drills, all valued at $3,450. Damage to the vehicle came to $100.
*A break-in at Smith Chapel Supply at 2216 W. N.C. 55, Mount Olive, ended with $200 damage to the door and theft of a laptop computer, cigarettes, cigars and a lighter, all valued at $2,056.
*Employees at Wayne County Iron Works reported the thefts of a welder, $780 in cash and a checkbook, all valued at $2,385, from the company's office at 3077-B N.C. 111 North.
*Cunningham Heating and Air, 196 Church of God Road, said somebody stole a 2-ton air conditioner from the driveway to the business.
Goldsboro police are investigating the following reports:
*Thieves did $520 worth of damage to get to $10 worth of copper pipe at a residence in the 700 block of West Chestnut Circle. Owner Charles Bryant of Tramway Place said the suspects entered by throwing a rock through the sliding glass door and damaged the hot water heater and air conditioner face plate.
*Suspects removed a screwdriver that was holding the garage door shut at Aamco Transmissions, 4201 U.S. 70 East, and took $2,042 in cash. Toolboxes were found opened, but no tools were reported missing.
