Youth of Year competition

The Wayne County Boys & Girls Club will host statewide competition Thursday and Friday for Youth of the Year honors in the Officer's Club at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
Mount Olive Club member Saderio Simmons will represent Wayne County in the competition.
She is a senior at Southern Wayne High School and a Lt. Col. with the school's Junior ROTC. She has been accepted at North Carolina Central University and plans to attend law school.
Five statewide finalists will be chosen at the event held on Thursday, and during breakfast Friday, the finalists will give speeches, each on one of the five categories.
