Accidents
Goldsboro police responded to these accidents:
* At approximately 2 p.m. Monday, Joshua Jahlem Gray, 5, was crossing William Street toward New Hope Road with his cousin when he jerked away from her. Howard Cecil Barnes, Jr., 53, told police he saw the child crossing the street and began to stop. When his southbound 1964 Chevrolet truck struck the child, he was estimated to be traveling at only about five miles-per-hour. The child was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital where he treated and released.
Also at approximately 2 p.m., Elmar Lee of Pikeville, 79, was traveling south on William Street when his 1999 Cadillac struck the 2002 Ford truck owned by Donald Gray Wooten, 57, as he was turning right onto New Hope Road.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating this report:
*Masonic Deonta Harvey reported Monday night that at about 9:30 p.m. two unknown black men shot at each other and that his car was struck. He was not injured and there are no suspects at this time.
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*Richard David Best reported Sunday that someone set fire to his utility trailer parked at his home in the 1100 block of Grantham School Road, Mount Olive. Damage was set at $150 bond.
*Santiago Osorio Reyes reported someone broke into his home in the 100 block of McCullen Drive, Dudley, between Saturday and Sunday and stole $100 in coins, 12 DVDS and 12 X-Box video games.
*Units of the Belfast Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire near Stoney Hill Road over the weekend. Someone set fire to a green Dodge Caravan causing $500 in damage. No suspects were identified.
